Filler & Sculptra

What is Filler

"Filler" is hyaluronic acid that can be injected to help restore or add volume. This can be used to achieve facial balancing and symmetry, or for volume loss associated with natural aging.

What is Sculptra

Sculptra is an injectable biostimulator that helps stimulate natural collagen production.  By age 40, most of us have lost around 20% of our collagen.  Sculptra acts as a scaffolding that supports and maintains our skin's inner structure, resulting in a more rejuvenated appearance.

Choosing between Filler and Sculptra

At the time of your consultation, we will determine whether we recommend using filler, Sculptra, or a combination of both to achieve your desired aesthetic outcome.

Selecting a Filler

At Smooth, we use two collections of hyaluronic acid fillers, RHA and Restylane. We select different fillers for different areas of the face based on what we are trying to achieve (softening of lines, volume repletion, hydration, etc.).  The RHA and Restylane collections provide an array of products that vary in their strength and flexibility, allowing us to address concerns throughout the entire face, decollete and beyond.

Preparing for my treatment

We recommend avoiding NSAIDs (Aleve, Motrin, Ibuprofen - Tylenol is okay), caffeine, and alcohol (more than one glass) for 2-3 days leading up to your appointment to lessen bruising and swelling.

At Smooth, we prioritize a natural-appearing result when injecting filler for volume loss or enhancement.  Facial balancing is encouraged for a well-supported facial structure, as opposed to injecting by area.  Some patients require volume in surrounding areas to achieve a harmonious result.

Not everyone is ready for full facial balancing. During an in-depth consultation at the time of your visit, the areas you wish to treat will be reviewed, and a treatment plan will be established.
