What are Neurotoxins?

Botulinum toxin temporarily blocks nerve signals in the muscles where it is injected, preventing them from contracting. This decrease in muscle movement allows for your body's collagen and elastin to smooth existing fine lines as well as prevent the appearance of deeper wrinkles. 

How long do Neurotoxins last?

The duration of neurotoxin effect directly correlates to the dose administered.  When injected per the FDA dosage guidelines, results will be at peak effect at around 2 weeks, and gradually taper off over the course of 3 months.  Some patients may experience up to 4 months duration.  When neurotoxin is injected at a lower dose, results may still be appreciated, however, for a lesser duration.

What are the differences between the brands of Neurotoxins?

At Smooth, we offer Daxxify and Dysport. All neurotoxins (Botox, Dysport, Xeomin, etc.) work similarly, with minor variances and uses between the different brands.  We will select the neurotoxin we use for your treatment based on your anatomy as well as your specific aesthetic goals.
