What is Microneedling?

Microneedling is a procedure during which we use a medical-grade pen with multiple microneedles to penetrate the skin’s surface, creating thousands of microchannels and triggering a natural immune response.  This response triggers multiple beneficial events: disinfecting, removing debris, increasing blood flow, and increasing collagen and elastin gene expression.  This collagen and elastin boost improves the skin's quality, visibly reducing wrinkles, fine lines, and even acne scars, leaving the skin appearing more youthful and Smooth.

Who should get Microneedling?

Microneedling is safe for all skin tones.  Patients who may benefit most from this procedure are those looking to improve the appearance of their skin texture, pore size, fine lines/wrinkles, acne scarring, and post traumatic or surgical scars.  Microneedling cannot, however, be performed in areas of active breakouts or open wounds due to risk of infection.

How many Microneedling sessions do I need?

Optimal results will be seen after a series of 3-6 treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart, followed by yearly maintenance. Results are a cumulative effect and will take time to be seen.

What to expect after my treatment:

Following microneedling, expect your skin to feel tight, dry, and sensitive, resembling a sunburn on the first day with possible redness lasting about 24 hours. On the second day, you might notice persistent redness and swelling, with potential bruising under the eyes, but you can start using sunscreen, moisturizer, and makeup again. By the third day, the redness and swelling should reduce, though dryness and flaking may start. The skin usually returns to normal by the fourth day but may remain slightly rough and flaky up to the seventh day. For optimal healing, avoid sun exposure for four weeks.
